OUR CHURCH

Welcome to St Andrew's, the Parish Church of Willesden Green.
When the Bishop installs a new Parish priest this declaration is made: "The Church of England is part of the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church worshipping the one true God, Father, Son an Holy Spirit. It professes the faith uniquely revealed in the Holy Scriptures and set forth in the catholic creeds, which faith the Church is called upon to proclaim afresh in each generation." |
When you look around St Andrew's you will see a church which is obviously Catholic. The Mass is celebrated every day, confessions are heard, Mary and the Saints are honoured at their shrines and the dead are prayed for.
This is a church in touch with its roots, and those roots go back to the conversion of this country from paganism by the mission of St Augustine which began at Easter 597AD. Here the controversies of the Reformation have been resolved.
You will also see this church has a prominent picture of the present Pope, Francis, and hear him prayed for at every Mass. This is because we belong to a network of churches which seek to mend the break with Rome, forced on the English Church by King Henry VIII in 1534.
This then, is a Parish Church of the Church of England, proud to be called Catholic, and actively seeking Church Unity.

SAINT ANDREW THE APOSTLE |
The church of Saint Andrew the Apostle is on the High Road (at the junction with St Andrew's Rd), Willesden Green.
The nearest underground stations are Willesden Green or Dollis Hill on the Jubilee Line. Buses : 6, 52, 98, 260, 266, 302. St Andrew's is only open during mass times and is visited by people from far and wide who come to pray. If you intend to travel a long distance, ring the Clergy House (020 8459 2670) beforehand to check that the church will be open. |

SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI |
The church of St Francis of Assisi is in Fleetwood Road (at its junction with Cullingworth Road) NW10.
The nearest underground station is Dollis Hill on the Jubilee Line. Bus : 226 The church is a short walk from Saint Andrew's on High Road, Willesden - see travel directions above. St Francis church is now the home of the Polish Catholic Community in Willesden Green, served by the Polish Jesuit Fathers from their house on Walm Lane. Mass in Polish is 19.30 pm each day and Sunday Morning there are several Masses. |
